I’m currently living in the USA but will soon be moving into a new home in Dublin, and I’m looking for a reliable interior designer to help me create a comfortable, functional, and stylish space. Since I won’t be local full-time initially, I’m particularly interested in designers who have experience working with clients remotely or from abroad.

I’d also love to hear about your personal experiences: How did you choose your interior designer? Are there any pitfalls I should avoid? How did you handle the remote collaboration part?

I’m open to any suggestions, whether it’s individual designers, agencies, or even online platforms that connect you with professionals in Dublin. Any advice or resources you can share would be hugely appreciated!

I was in a similar situation a while ago. I purchased an older home in limerick Ireland that really needed a fresh look, but I was not around locally most of the time, so I needed someone who could handle things remotely and still keep me involved. At first I spent a lot of time searching online and asking around, but it was hard to find someone I felt comfortable trusting with a full redesign. After research i found a interior designer in limerick and decided to reach out and discuss my ideas with them. The process turned out to be much easier than I expected. We communicated through video calls and email, and they shared mood boards, layout ideas, and material options so I could review everything from a distance. They really listened to what I wanted and also suggested practical ideas that I would not have thought about myself.

They helped redesign several areas of the house during the renovation. The living room layout was improved with better lighting and updated furniture to make the space feel more open. The bedroom was refreshed with a new bed setup, better storage, and calm colors for a relaxing feel. The kitchen layout and cabinets were updated to make it more practical for daily use, while the bathroom was improved with new tiles and fixtures for a cleaner, modern look.

In the end, they completely transformed my old home. The space feels more open, comfortable, and modern, but it still keeps some of the original character of the house. The whole experience was smooth even though most of it was handled remotely.

My advice would be to choose someone who communicates clearly and shows you their design process step by step. That made a big difference for me.
